The public presentation of these lakefront developments that was made in June 2008 is available at http://www.cityofevanston.org/pdf/PublicMtg_060308_Presentation.pdf. Here, you can find a map of the proposed paths, the detailed depiction of the proposed construction of the paths (down to the type of foundation that would be dug for them), and pictures of the styles of lamps, benches, and trash bins to be installed. Nothing that has been built so far appears to vary from the proposal as made to and accepted by the City in 2008. If you have an opinion about the paths, please let SEA know. Among SEA membership, there so far are robust views of the paths, ranging from strong like to strong dislike. SEA Board members attended many of the 2008 City meetings about lakefront development, calling for restraint in development. Outside of Chicago, only Evanston has maintained a significant portion of its lakefront for public use. That is a great benefit for all of Evanston. |

The lakefront bike path is constructed. The concepts of the path, as presented during public meetings in June 2008, are now evident to the onlooker in real time and space. As of the date of this publication, lights are being placed; other fixtures such as benches and trash bins are also placed. The foot path appears to yet remain under construction.
