Keep Evanston Beautiful Launches Pup Team

Keep Evanston Beautiful, Inc. has launched the PUP Team, a new anti-litter program targeted to Evanston dog owners willing to make their daily walks an environmentally friendly exercise. PUP - short for Pick-Up-Patrol - encourages dog owners to take an extra bag on walks and pick up the occasional can, bottle or snack food wrapper spotted along the way.

"It's a simple concept and an offshoot of our 'Adopt a Spot' program," says KEB president Dick Peach. "Dog owners patrol their neighborhoods every day, usually more than once a day. They're already accustomed to picking up after their dogs. Picking up a sporadic bit of litter adds only seconds to a walk, yet is greatly appreciated by residents."

The PUP Team was originated by SEA member Ron Bottrell, and the $5 registration fee is waived for SEA members who sign up. PUP members will receive a Keep Evanston Beautiful green bandanna for their dog - the PUP Team uniform. The principal benefit, though, is the self-satisfaction of knowing you're doing your small part to make our beautiful, historic city even more beautiful.
